For the third year running, Dr Han She Lim, a hydrologist of the Earth & Environmental Science Department at James Cook University, Cairns, invited Jaragun to provide first year science students an overview of its environmental restoration work in the Russell River catchment. The students, who are taking the subject EV1005 Environmental Processes and Global Change, were shown the many fields of science that inform ecosystem management as a means of highlighting the various career paths afforded through a science degree. This year was a first for Wanjuru Traditional Owners in presenting their fieldwork to conserve and restore the biological and hydrological values of the catchment’s significant wetlands.
